Because we can only do it together.

Education. Support. Appreciation. For every child in Zanzibar.

Who we are

We are Schülerhilfe Sansibar e. V., a non-profit association that has been working since 2022 to improve the educational and living conditions of children in Zanzibar. We volunteer our support to two primary schools, St. Barnabas School in Mahonda and St. Monica School in Stone Town, as well as St. Paul School, a secondary school in Stone Town. Our work includes school sponsorships, education and food projects, and the construction and expansion of school buildings. It is particularly important to us to create inclusive learning spaces where all children can learn, grow and develop their talents in a safe environment.

What we do

01.

— School sponsorship

With a school sponsorship, you enable a child to attend school regularly and provide them with the equipment they need for everyday school life. You will receive transparent updates about your sponsored child and can correspond by letter if you wish.

02.

— Fruit project

Every Friday, the children receive fresh fruit such as pineapple, watermelon or mango. This promotes healthy eating and motivates more parents to send their children to school.

03.

— Food project

Three times a week, children at our partner schools receive a hot meal – for many, the only one they get all week. In this way, we not only support nutrition, but also regular school attendance.

04.

— English lessons

We support English language teaching at our partner schools by providing textbooks, exercise books and other materials. In this way, we help children develop language skills that will improve their future prospects.

05.

— Art project

A former chicken coop has been converted into a student art gallery where children can work creatively under parasols. Through regular donations of materials such as brushes, paints and paper, we encourage their creativity and personal development.

06.

— School construction and renovation

We are constructing new classrooms and staff rooms and renovating existing buildings. This includes replacing the roof at St. Monica School to create more space, safety and comfort.
